Novatel introduces 3G capable MiFi stand-alone WiFi hotspot

Novatel has unveiled its new MiFi mobile 3G hotspot. The square shaped MiFi is roughly the length and width of a credit card, though thicker. This small device is able to connect to either EV-DO Rev. A or HSPA networks and then function as a WiFi hotspot, which you and your friends can then connect to from a laptop or PDA.The Novatel MiFi packs a small battery that the company estimates will last for 4 hours of continuous use, or 40 hours of standby time. The MiFi is scheduled to be available in the first half of 2009 through both carrier and retail channels. Pricing information has not been released.
