Apple experiencing shortages of new iPhone 3GS smartphone

Fortune reports that Apple is experiencing shortages of new iPhone 3GS, according to Apple's Retail Store iPhone 3GS availability chart.

On Friday, 29 of 257 Apple stores were showing shortages of the smartphone device, but by Sunday certain models were sold out in all but six states. Apple's only store in Kentucky was completely sold out and both stores in Alabama were cleaned out as well. Fortune noticed that the 16GB white iPhone 3GS is experiencing high demand.
