Nokia, Sony Ericsson, Samsung, Apple, others to adopt micro-USB charging standard for Europe

According to a Reuters story posted on eWeek, most of the world's top cell phone manufacturers have agreed to adopt the micro-USB(INFO) port as the standard charging port for all handsets sold in the EU, according to the European Commission.

It has been reported that Nokia, Samsung, LG, Motorola, Sony Ericsson, Apple, RIM, NEC, Qualcomm, Research in Motion, and Texas Instruments have all signed on for the new charging port standard, which goes into effect next year
