The Corporation LG Electronics announced transparent mobile phone LG-GD900 with transparent keypad at the World Mobile Congress. The official press release of the company tells about this.

The keypad is lighted when the transparent phone is working. LG is going to sell the mobile transparent phone together with Bluetooth garniture.

LG-GD900 will be the first transparent mobile phone in the world. It will be oriented for the premium-segment of the market.

The transparent phone will appear on sale in the second quarter 2009. At the same time its technical features will become known.

4G phones, 4G nets

Nokia will release 4G phones in 2010.The Nokia Company is planning to release new mobile phones in 2010 which will work in the fourth generation nets (4G), as Electronista announces quoting Nokia representatives.

Notebooks and other mobile devices will also be able to work in 4G nets. But it is not clarified if the devices would need a special outer modem for that or 4G module will be built in.

We shall remind that last autumn The Nokia Siemens Networks (NSN) began 4G phones nets equipment release. The 4G basic stations software will be available in the second half of 2009.

NSN equipment for the 4G phones nets supports LTE technology that increases data transfer speed up to 326 MB a second to the user and up to 86 Mb a second from the user. Presently maximum data transfer speed to the user in the 3G nets is 7,2 MB a second.

It is supposed that the first 4G phones net will be launched at the beginning of 2010 by the American operator Verizon. At the same time similar nets will be opened by Canadian operators Bell and Telus. Other operators like AT&T will launch 4G phones nets in 2011.

T-Mobile announces RIM BlackBerry Curve 8520 smartphone

T-Mobile and Research In Motion have announced the BlackBerry Curve 8520, RIM's newest device in the company's line of BlackBerry capable consumer and corporate smartphones. The Curve 8520 features global band support, a QVGA resolution display, multimedia capabilities, and a traditional full-QWERTY form factor.

The 8520 features quad-band GSM (850/900/1800/1900MHz) support with EDGE data connectivity. It also includes WiFi technology for high-speed local data networks. Built on a speedy 512MHz processor, the Curve 8520 should snappily navigate through BlackBerry's attractive new operating system, which should likewise look nice on its 2.64-inch 65k color 320 x 240 TFT pixel display.

Users can send text and email messages to friends family and business colleagues as the device has support for an impressive number of email services, like Yahoo!, Windows Live, Gmail, and more, along with BlackBerry's secure and capable BlackBerry Enterprise Server support. A full-QWERTY keyboard and an innovative optical joystick "trackpad" will help send those messages off in a dash.

While a work powerhouse, the Curve 8520 also has consumer entertainment benefits, like a 2 megapixel camera with video recording capabilities. With a built-in media player, users can listen to music through wireless headphones since it supports Bluetooth v2.0 support with +EDR and A2DP, or they can plug in standard 3.5mm stereo headphones. Garmin-ASUS nuvifone G60 to ship next week

Garmin-ASUS announced that its long-delayed nuvifone G60, a Linux-based smartphone with a focus on navigation tasks, will finally start shipping later this month in Taiwan on July 27, to be followed by Singapore and Malaysia by the end of August. The company has said that the nuvifone G60 is on track for a release in the United States and Europe during the second half of 2009. Garmin-ASUS also announced that its Windows Mobile powered nuvifone G20 will start shipping in some Asian markets in August.

The Garmin-ASUS nuvifone G60 was originally announced just before Mobile World Congress in 2008 as the Garmin nuvifone. Garmin and ASUS joined forces in the smartphone business in February of this year, which resulted in the device being renamed.

Samsung offering S9110 watch phone

Today Samsung launched its latest watch phone, the new S9110. The S9110 is what Samsung claims to be the thinnest watch phone on the market, at 11.98mm (.47in). The company credits its advanced surface mounting technology for this achievement.

The S9110 features a specially designed 1.76-inch TFT touchscreen display with a 176 x 220 pixel resolution. The phone can play MP3 files from its 40MB of internal storage, and it can be used to record voice memos as well. Voice dialing and a speakerphone are also included for that full Dick Tracy effect.

If you prefer not to be seen talking into your wrist, you'll be thankful to know that the S9110 also supports Bluetooth headsets as well. The S9110's battery is rated for 630mAh of power, but Samsung did not indicate what kind of talk time or standby time performance we can expect from a full charge.

The S9110 measures 57.5mm x 41.1mm x 11.98mm (2.3in x 1.6in x .47in) in size and weighs 91g (3.2oz). This dual-band (900/1800MHz) GSM/GPRS phone is designed to operate in Europe, and will be sold in France later this month for roughly 450 EUR.

Samsung Mondi SWD-M100 WiMAX mobile tablet

The Samsung Mondi SWD-M100 WiMAX mobile tablet is now available to Clear WiMAX customers in Atlanta, Las Vegas and Portland.

The Mondi features a 4.3-inch touchscreen display and a 3.0 megapixel camera. Users can fire off messages to friends and family on social networks and instant messaging systems like Fring and Live Messenger with the Mondi's full-QWERTY slide-out keyboard.

The SWD-M100 runs on Windows Mobile 6.1 Professional Edition and users can surf the web using Opera 9.6. The device also includes WiFi data connectivity in addition to the WiMAX offering, Bluetooth, and 4GB of internal memory.

The Samsung Mondi SWD-M100 is available at samsung.com or at select Samsung retailers. It will be available in Clearwire store starting August 1. Pricing information was not immediately available.

Cricket launches PCD's TXTM8 messaging cell phone

Cricket Communications has unveiled the TXTM8, an affordable QWERTY slider with an emphasis on text and picture messaging from manufacturer Personal Communications Devices.

A vertical slide reveals a QWERTY keyboard to compose quick messages and send off notes on users' favorite social networks. Users can snap photos with the phone's 1.3 megapixel camera and store them on microSD(INFO) memory cards. Cricket's customized homescreen provides instant access to sports scores, news, entertainment, gossip, and weather that displays on the TXTM8's 2.2-inch TFT display.

Nokia N86 8MP coming to the U.S. in "coming weeks"

Nokia announced today that its N86 8MP camera phone will soon be headed to the U.S. The S60 3rd Edition Feature Pack 2-powered device sports a 2.6-inch AMOLED(INFO) display, an 8.0 megapixel camera, and aGPS technology and will be made available in flagship Nokia stores in the "coming weeks."

Built to take quality pictures, the N86 features variable f/2.4 to f/4.8 aperture, a mechanical shutter, a dual-LED flash, and a wide-angle Carl Zeiss lens. The N86 lets users upload photos with one-click, and gives access to Nokia's various services like Ovi Share, Ovi Maps, N-Gage, and Ovi Files.

The N86 first began shipping globally in early June, as we reported. The Nokia N86 8MP smartphone will be available for in the U.S. for $558.00.
